 Today a great reading from the Gospel of Mark! Remember Marks Gospels cover the period of Jesus from around age 30. Also remember 75% or more of Marks writings are documented speeches from Peters lectures when they were both in Rome. Peter first meet Jesus at his baptism by John the Baptist. This is why never writes about events prior to that meeting. Because of Likes relationship with Mary( her Dr), Yes Luke the gentile was a doctor and spent lots of time with Mary during the pregnancy, hence many written words about that period. John writes Gospels in a time fram from the beginning of time. Mathew from the time of Abraham onward. This is evidenced with the writing or the lineage gospel Christmas Day/ Eve.  There is an overall theme in the Bible as it relates to HISTORY. It is rooted in Threaded Behavior. Ever since the first community of two we see this with the beginning of Adam and Eve. The 4 Elements of History Peoples,Personalities,Patterns,Purpose. The diagram below shows in the writings of the book of Judges what a Kingless nation looks like. God gave the people of Israel judges, not magistrates but more like super hero’s in time of need.6 major and 6 minor to handle problems. The last of the great majors was Sampson. This did not stop though the circular dysfunctional behavior of the Israelites. The book of Ruth chronicles a beautiful story of sacrifice that mirrored what looking forward should resemble and it was after book we see Samuel describe how the people elected their first King Saul so they could eventually move in a new direction. Do often today we get mired down in daily problems and can heed the lessons of Ruth to end frustration and go onward in peace!   ...

 As Gods people went into the promised led by Joshua, promise’s were fulfilled. The book of Joshua tells just how that story happened. Why this discussion in Lent? This is evidence from early on how God worked with mankind. He gives blessings in the form of gifts and in return asks for  acknowledgment though obedience. I will include an outline for clarity, but essentially God though Joshua formed a pact. “I’ll give you this promise land. Obey my laws”. Simple right? Well we will see again the flaws of human behavior. Two basic principles are always in play, Divine Intervention and Human Co-Operation. The out line explanation is perfect. The last two paragraphs is Joshua talking through God and a fascinating dialogue worth reading on your own.  The concept of Lent in many circles has always been,” What am I giving Up”? We see in the Gospels of Mathew and John the many sacrifices Jesus gave on His journey to our redemption. His behavior was modified indeed. But Lent for the modern day Catholic Christian or any Christian for that matter is way more than  that. Resources today allow us to modify our behaviors by giving up that prized possession  called TIME! The book of Numbers tells a story of sacrifices in the form of animal  offerings and the like in pleasing to God. This seems a bit primitive today but similar  offerings and sacrifices can still be relevant in our community. It is in the form of Sacrifices of Thanksgiving and Blessings ( acts of prayer) within our community. As Lent continues on we will look at ways to enhance this journey and offer petitions  for others so this will become a part of every day life.           The ‘ Hail Mary ’, also known as the   Ave Maria   in Latin, is seen as the main Marian Prayer. Like ‘The Lord’s Prayer’, the ‘Hail Mary’  is one of the rare   prayers   that is known by every Christian worldwide, and that exists in every language. It is customary to say the ‘Hail Mary’ many times a week. It is also the first prayer that comes to mind when we want to dedicate a prayer to the Virgin Mary. But where does it come from? First Part Of The Prayer   This whole part has roots in the Gospel of Luke. The two first verses originate from  The Annunciation.  They are the words of Gabriel the Archangel: “And he came to her and said: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you” (Luke 1:26-38). The ' Our Father ', or The Lord’s Prayer is a pillar of  Christian prayer . Catholics, Orthodoxs and Protestants all say it daily and know it well: it is the Universal Christian Prayer. But where does it come from? The Lord’s Prayer in the Gospels The 'Our Father' as we know it today originates from The Gospel of Matthew, in an extract of The Sermon of the Mount (Matthew 6:9-13): “Pray then like this: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”. After the Disciples had come to Jesus to learn how to pray, He taught them The Lord’s Prayer, that was transcribed by Saint Matthew during the occasion.  The Lord’s Prayer is also recorded in The Gospel of Saint Luke, one of the four Evangelists.   Epiphany   also known as  Theophany  in Eastern traditions, is a Christian feast day that celebrates the revelation  of God as Jesus Christ. In the Western Christian Church, the feast commemorates principally (but not solely) the visit of the Magi(3) to the infant Jesus, and thus Jesus Christ's physical manifestation to the Gentiles.    It is sometimes called  Kings Day , and in some traditions celebrated as Little Christmas. Eastern Christians, on the other hand, commemorate the baptism of Jesus in the Jordan River, seen as his manifestation to the world as the Son of God.  The traditional date for the feast is January 6.   Christmas!The Birth of Jesus Advent has ended and the Old Testament prophecy  has come true. This prophecy has been in the works now for over 1500 hundred years. As previously stated two different authors of New Testament  writings suggest varying genealogies.Luke starts off with God Abraham to Joseph with no mention of women’s names along the way. Mathew’s version names 4 women before Mary. There is a suggestion naming these women recognizes a female aspect to Mary’s blood line. It should be  noted that all that naming takes place before the exile into Babylon. It should also be noted that in Mathew version the father of Joseph is Jacob. In the Luke though the father of Joseph is  listed as Heli but actually he was the Father in Law to Joseph. Heli was the Father of Mary. Luke later lists him as the Grandfather of Jesus.  Add all these differences of Luke from Mathew version and you  can see why Luke’s version of Jesus genealogy is deemed  A Un...
