Lent: A Season of Reflection and Repentance

The concept of Lent in many circles has always been,” What am I giving Up”?

We see in the Gospels of Mathew and John the many sacrifices Jesus gave on

His journey to our redemption. His behavior was modified indeed. But Lent

for the modern day Catholic Christian or any Christian for that matter is way more than

that. Resources today allow us to modify our behaviors by giving up that prized possession

called TIME! The book of Numbers tells a story of sacrifices in the form of animal

offerings and the like in pleasing to God. This seems a bit primitive today but similar

offerings and sacrifices can still be relevant in our community. It is in the form of

Sacrifices of Thanksgiving and Blessings ( acts of prayer) within our community.

As Lent continues on we will look at ways to enhance this journey and offer petitions

for others so this will become a part of every day life. Beginning today sketch

an outline of behaviors one can change to be more positive and optimistic about

our ministry to others in the name of Jesus to mirror his sacrifices for others.

Become creative and empower others in your circle. Family and friends coming

together in His name. Quiet reflections, better use of time, minimal use of gadgets and

blathering distractions. Empower physical health and dietary restrictions. Pray full activity

consistency will help accomplish these sacrifices.

Together we are one in Christ!
